We Are Family
Long time, no blog.
I've been stuck in a creative rut lately and have started approximately 18 blog posts but never finished them. I decided the best way to get out of the rut is to just do that thing and publish a blog; even if it's not "perfect." So here it is...
I have been reflecting a lot recently on just how incredible my family is. I am also 20 weeks pregnant so this often results in a lot of tears and concerned looks from Kenneth. Having supportive people on this parenting journey is so incredibly important - especially in a world where people are constantly making you second guess your decisions.
I wrote a Facebook post on Thanksgiving saying how thankful I am for Dustin and how he supports my parenting style and beliefs; he's seriously amazing. He always strives to be a better father and husband, and I could not have dreamt up a better partner. But this post isn't about him (even though, I've been telling him for a year that he's got a dedicated post coming his way). A lot of people complain about their in-laws and can never seem to get along with them no matter what they do. I cannot relate to that at all and feel so incredibly lucky for it.
My mother-in-law is like my long lost soul sister, I swear. I can talk to her about anything and she gets it. We spend at least an hour a week talking about parenting, natural remedies, making fun a stupid things people do, her crazy co-workers, etc. and it never gets old. She is always willing to watch Kenneth whenever we ask so that Dustin and I can have a date night or go to a Dr appointment alone. She also always asks before she gives food to Kenneth, which may not seem like a big deal to a lot of people, but it means a lot to me. And I can't forget to mention my father-in-law who no matter how long of a day he had, is never too tired or too busy to get on the floor with Kenneth and play "night night" or chase her around the house. I know that I can ask him for help with anything and he'll do his best to figure it out and help. I can go over to their house after a rough day and know that I'll get a bit of a reprieve because Kenneth loves both of them so much. I don't even think they realize how vital the support they give us is, but I really may have gone over the edge by now if it wasn't for them.
So if you're reading this Pam & Andy, thank you.
